Follow His Lead

Hello Lovelies,

When I was an early teen, I took ballroom dancing lessons along with my cousin. Each week our instructor would teach us a few new moves or steps. And we had to make sure we showed up each week, observed and obeyed her instructions. She would direct us and dance along side us until we were gliding together. And later she  examined our progress. Dance is just one Art which not only teaches you discipline but also the importance of knowing your position. Two partners dancing together can't take the position of the lead dancer. One has to lead and one has to follow. And there's something beautiful in watching dancers take the floor in unison. I've observed how the male lead dancer positions himself and has a posture, and his partner follows his leading, trusting his every move and they dance in one accord. No beat missed, no foot out of place, no step second-guessed and no resistance. They would just flow.

We as the Church (body) of Christ need to let Jesus always take the lead and not the backseat. We are made of many parts yet we form one body that functions together. And each one is significant and needed. No part can be deemed weak. The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 12 that the body does not consist of one limb or organ but many. Each body part performs a function in the physical as it does in the spiritual. God saw it fit to have a head, limbs, organs, legs and feet. He saw it fit for humans to have parts visible to the naked eye and parts to be intricately hidden and not exposed out in the open. He harmonized those parts. Separated, displaced and dislocated we are out of position and ineffective. We can't carry out all functions, be at the exact same place and do all things at once. We need divine assistance and guidance and covering so we're not unprotected and become prey for the enemy. Remember He is after all a devourer (Malachi 3:11), not a helper. Covering is important and necessary for the body of Christ.

When an army is aligned and positioned it's members serve well, they flow in one accord and are unified in carrying out a purpose. Where one lacks coverage or assistance another supplies it as each member cares for the other. And with more hands and feet the more work gets done, the more territory is covered and the less places the enemy can infiltrate and invade and possess. When one member suffers the rest of the counterparts feel the same pain. And when one is honoured, all members rejoice in it. So mustvit be it be with us.

We are to desire oneness, that is synchronization as a unit and with the Holy Spirit. This year I've learned to call on God more. I've learned to call on the Holy Spirit when I need assistance. John 14:26 in the amplified Bible says, "But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you". He is our mediator between God and men (1 Timothy 2:5). Romans 8:26-28 says that he is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, He knows our 'pregnant' condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives and out of love for God is worked into something good.

We are to identify Him and locate Him. When we are in our rightful place, taking our rightful position we are in sync with His Will. The Word says that God has appointed some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers (Ephesians 4:11 and 1 Corinthians 12:28). We need take our positions.

There's such beauty in God taking the lead in our lives and us submitting to His Will. We are to realize that He has a specific rhythm in life and until it begins, it's pointless for us to create our own rhythm or follow the lead of others. If we aren't listening to His melody, looking out for His signals we may miss what He is doing in this season in our lives. Therefore, we need to listen closely to His voice, for His rhythm so we can move along with Him, and stay aligned.

"How?"  you may ask.

- Learn to move to God's beat, not your own. Ask God to teach you to number your days so you use your time on earth wisely and don't squander it (Ps 90:12).

- Learn to be in sync' with Him always, not out. John 15:5 (Amp Bible) says, "I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. If a person does not dwell in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned. If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you. When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine".

- Therefore, learn to follow His lead, and unfollow the leading of those in the world. There's a time to follow and a time to lead. Discern and identify the difference.

I hope this helps you. Let us desire and persue oneness with the Holy Spirit and with each other as the body of Christ.

- Mel
